Watercolor supply list
The better your painting
supplies, the easier it will be to achieve success, so keep that in mind when
you buy (within your budget).
Brushes:
3 flat brushes- ¼”, ½” or ¾”
and also 1”
a couple rounds- size 1 and
4ish
a large “wash” brush
Paper:
140# cold press paper, Arches
is my favorite. If you are a
beginner, 11x15” size is good (1/4 of a full size sheet) A watercolor block is
ok, too.
Paints:
A few professional colors
will be better than the student grade. I like Da Vinci or Winsor Newton brands. Some basic colors I like are cadmium
yellow, cadmium red, sap green, cobalt blue, and pthalo blue, alizarin crimson,
burnt sienna.
