This will mainly be a class on the technique of watercolor painting. We will however talk about design, color theory, and perspective as needed.

Watercolor supply list

The better your painting supplies, the easier it will be to achieve success, so keep that in mind when you buy (within your budget).

Brushes:

3 flat brushes- ¼”, ½” or ¾” and also 1”

a couple rounds- size 1 and 4ish

a large “wash” brush

Paper:

140# cold press paper, Arches is my favorite.  If you are a beginner, 11x15” size is good (1/4 of a full size sheet) A watercolor block is ok, too.

Paints:

A few professional colors will be better than the student grade. I like Da Vinci or Winsor Newton brands.  Some basic colors I like are cadmium yellow, cadmium red, sap green, cobalt blue, and pthalo blue, alizarin crimson, burnt sienna.

Watercolor pallet with lid

Other items:

Paper towels

Container for water

Hair dryer (optional)
